In the “Radionuclide materials Observed with soft X-rays Spectroscopy (ROXS)” project we build a new experimental station with controlled area licensing at the X-SPEC beamline. The newly commissioned X-SPEC insertion device beamline is operated by the IPS at the KIT Light Source. The new ROXS station will give access to previously inaccessible regions of the periodic table for radioactive material research with soft and hard X-ray spectroscopy methods. It will access absorption edges in the range from Z = 3 (Li) to 15 (P), especially adding elements that are key components of radiopharmaceuticals or organic ligands of relevance for nuclear waste management topics. The ROXS station at X-SPEC, together with the two existing hard X-ray beamlines for radionuclide research at the KIT Light Source (INE-BL and CAT-ACT), will cover the entire range from soft to hard X-rays for studies of radioactive materials.
